Sorbus domestica is a deciduous thermophilous tree native to southern Europe, which tolerates drought well, grows up to 20 m tall in our country and is rarely cultivated as a fruit tree. In the Czech Republic it lives 300 to 500 years, in southern Europe up to 600 years. It is rare in the Czech Republic and is found in the Bohemian Central Highlands and south-eastern Moravia. The name Oscherus is of obscure, probably pre-European origin.
