Tulip tree

A couple of steps from the commemorative plaque, on the path below the Alpine Garden behind the Botič stream, you will find the tulip tree (Lyriodendron tulipifera) . The leaves of the plant which is of north-American origin and is related to the magnolia, resemble the shape of a lyre. The green-orange flowers which appear at the beginning of June have a distinctive aroma and can reach up to 8 cm in diameter. Thanks to the leaves, however, the flowers aren´t very noticeable. In the fall, they take on shades of yellow-orange.
