J. R. Seidel was one of the first modern (turn of the 19th and 20th century) breeders of rhododendrons, who focused mainly on their hardiness. The rhododendron cultivars you see in this lot (e.g. Rhododendron ‘Donar’, ‘Genoveva’, ‘Darius’, ‘Annedore’ and others) were purchased by Count A. E. Silva-Tarouca for future passage breeding.
