Průhonice Park

A natural landscape park of 250 hectares founded in 1855 by Count Ernst Emanuel Silva-Tarouca. The founder took advantage of the undulating terrain of the Botič stream valley and its tributaries and combined native woody plants with imported exotic plants. The masterfully chosen views and openings serve as the basis of the Park´s composition. The Count interspersed groups of trees and bushes with meadows, ponds, streams and their dead-ends. He skilfully used the variability of the trees in the different seasons. The result of his life-long efforts is a masterpiece of landscape design of global significance created according to the Count´s original ideas.
