Pinus heldreichii 'Smidt'

The Pinus heldreichii ‘Smidt’  is the most famous pine of the Průhonice Park. It was discovered by the secretary of the Czechoslovak Dendrological Society E. Smidt in the mountains of Bosnia. It was planted by Count A. E. Silva-Tarouca in 1927 in Alpina after it had been replanted. From this specimen, all plants have been propagated at home and abroad.
