Caroline Hellasia (Halesia carolina)

Just outside the Czech Cottage, you can admire the snow-white flowers of the North American Carolinian Helleboresia in May. Native to the Americas, it is a deciduous shrub growing 4-5 m tall with ovate leaves. The flowers are arranged in drooping clusters. The fruits are wing-shaped, dry, sharp-tipped capsules that last on the bushes all winter until the following spring.
