Down redwood

Large exemplars of dawn redwood (Metasequoia glyptostroboides) trees are located where the Botič stream joins the Bořín pond. They were planted here in 1962. The deciduous tree comes from China, where it was discovered in 1941. Until then the entire metasequoia genus was considered extinct. In its home, the tree can reach up to 35 metres in height and up to 2 metres in diameter of the trunk. The globose cones grow on long spikes.
